Septoplasty
Septoplasty is the surgical procedure that straightens or repairs the nasal septum, which is the barrier that separates the two nasal airways. It is a treatment for respiratory issues caused by a deviated or crooked septum. Prepare to have no more respiratory issues after this operation.
What we call septum deviation is that the nasal septum in the midline of the nose cannot be positioned correctly due to various reasons and creates a curvature. This trapezoidal nasal septum makes it difficult for the person to breathe. In some cases, individuals may even be unable to breathe as a result of the complete closure of the nostrils.
This is exactly why septoplasty is necessary. After this procedure, the crooked nasal septum will be corrected and you will be able to breathe easily.
Most of the individuals who may need this surgery are those who have septum deviation due to physical trauma and those who have it genetically.
The doctor first applies whatever anesthesia he decides to apply to the patient. Then, a small incision is made under the nose, reaching the tissues, and excess bone tissue is removed from there. If more problems occur in the cartilage tissues, the procedure is completed by correcting them in the nose.
